![]() They abandoned everything that made the original game a success. Personally I knew this game was headed for the **** from the moment the first 3D trailer came out. Each run only lasts 4-5 hours so you have no time to get attached to or feel real investment in your characters/runs, but at the same time, the game plays so slowly that each runs feels like a slog to actually persevere through. and filled the gaps with terribly executed Slay The Spire style gameplay elements which result in the worst of both worlds. Red Hook removed 90% of what made the original game great, including base building, character development, attachment to heroes, slow and steady progression, etc. The devs sold their souls to epic all so that they could sit around and BS new ideas that they had no reason to think would work, then used The devs sold their souls to epic all so that they could sit around and BS new ideas that they had no reason to think would work, then used name recognition to sell what is at best a spin-off, and at worst a completely different (and far worse) game compared to its predecessor. In DD2 there are lengthy unskippable paragraphs of tutorial text for EVERYTHING. If anything, a tiny bubble popped up saying "ya, poison does damage each round" then the bubble disappeared. What? WHY? Can't you just let me play the game? DD1 was so intuitive they didn't need tutorials. I was bombarded with all of these unskippable tutorial screens. How did they get this wrong? I could just type for hours. So the stagecoach driving part was awful, but the rest of the game is good right? WRONG. Why is there car driving in a DD game? WTF is this even? It's sooooo horribly bad! If it was like a brief 30 second little blip of gameplay, maybe it would be tolerable, but this is what you do for the MAJORITY of your time in the game! It's not DD2, it's stagecoach driver simulator. That's pretty much what it feels like only with slightly worse graphics and worse handling. Imagine a bad racing game from the early 2000's. The majority of your time spent playing DD2 is stuck in this horrible stagecoach driving mode. The animations are no longer individual comic-book style cells. I don't even know where to start - there's so much wrong with the game. I bought and played it for about 2 hours today and.it was so bad I don't think I'll ever play it again. For those who are saying that game is too hard - I got first run win … Expand Also character interactions "chances and types" need some retweaking, since you either have to pick one of the 2 reliable stress relieving characters or sink into despair (although it is still manageable) Overall I can see where other people are coming from, but I still have fun and will prob take a pause at the game after I got max profile level and unlocked all character skills. Some upgrade system for relics, or combining them would we welcome, since its more of a roguelike. ![]() Giving a couple points above because of an Early Access discount Pros: Satisfying and great visuals, great desicion for character interactions, mostly better new mechanics, character stories are great! Cons: inability to sell relics, most of the stuff you carry is trash that gets discarded. ![]() I like that they changed the way the game plays, otherwise it would be just a remaster of an old game.
